IES Abroad

We are thrilled to announce that Jacklyn Durham has officially joined IES Abroad as the new Center Director of our Sydney Center, beginning her role on April 7, 2025. Jacklyn’s appointment comes at an exciting time as we celebrate the 20th anniversary of IES Abroad Sydney!

Following an extensive global search, Jacklyn stood out among a highly competitive pool of candidates for her impressive experience, student-centered approach, and passion for international education.

"Jacklyn’s dedication to intercultural learning and her student-first philosophy made her the clear choice to lead our Sydney Center into its next chapter," said Michael Adewumi, Ph.D., Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs at IES Abroad. "We are delighted to welcome her to the IES Abroad family."

Jacklyn brings more than two decades of cross-sector experience spanning academia, non-profits, and private industry. Originally from the United States, she is completing her PhD. at the University of Sydney, with research focused on advancing international volunteering and global engagement through localization. She also holds a Master of Human Rights and Democratisation—where her studies took her to Nepal and Thailand—and a bachelor’s degree in communications and psychology from Case Western Reserve University.

Jacklyn’s deep understanding of both the opportunities and challenges of studying abroad, paired with her dedication to intercultural learning, make her an exceptional addition to the IES Abroad community. In the coming months, she will work closely with Caleb Foale, Dean of the Asia-Pacific region, to ensure a smooth transition into her leadership role.
