The IES Abroad Direct Admission Program permits coordinators from all Member and select Associate Member schools to admit students who meet our minimum requirements to many of our programs, prior to submitting their application forms to us. As study abroad enrollments continue to grow, qualified students can be ensured a spot in an IES Abroad program through direct admission. 

• 18 years of age
• In good standing at home school
• A cumulative GPA of at least a 2.75 on a 4.0 scale for semester programs; or 2.5 for summer and January term programs
• Sophomore, junior or senior standing
• If applying to a program with a language requirement, the student must have taken an appropriate level language course no later than one year prior to the IES Abroad program start date. The IES Abroad Foreign Language Assessment Form requirement is waived for directly admitted students.

The following programs and outside course enrollment options are completely or partially excluded from the Direct Admission program. Students should also be advised that many outside course enrollment options at local universities have additional prerequisites and IES Abroad direct admission does not guarantee course enrollment in a particular outside institution.

• IES Abroad Home School Authorization form or online approval via the IES Abroad Partner Portal

Students cannot be "provisionally" accepted to an IES Abroad program through Direct Admission. Students who do not meet the published criteria at the time of application, but have high potential, should be encouraged to apply directly to IES Abroad.
