We are starting the new year off on a high note with new IES Abroad staff to help bring students' global experiences to life. Lauren Alexander joins IES Abroad as the new Associate Vice President of Customized & Faculty-Led Programs.
Lauren's role is distinguished and of importance as she will lead all customized programming efforts for IES Abroad. Her extensive international education experience, and team-building, and collaboration skills position her as an excellent fit for the role.
“We are excited to welcome Lauren to IES Abroad where her extensive experience, skills and unwavering passion for international education will further position us as a provider of choice for universities seeking academically engaging and culturally immersive customized programs,” said Michael Adewumi, PhD, Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost.
Lauren's rich background in international education, study abroad, and faculty-led programming serves as a foundation to inform the work she will be doing with IES Abroad. She has previously served as Deputy Director of the Office of International Programs at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. Prior to that position, she served for more than 11 years in positions of increasing responsibility at International Studies Abroad (ISA), including Associate Vice President, Custom Programs, and culminating in the position of Associate Vice President, University Partnerships.
Lauren received her Bachelor's of Arts degree from Rice University in English Literature and Spanish Language and Linguistics and her Master of Arts in Intercultural Communication from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. She also spent a full academic year abroad at the Universitat de Barcelona, which included Catalan classes for international students. She credits her study abroad experiences as having an enormous positive impact, professionally and personally.
We are ecstatic to welcome another study abroad veteran who is passionate about shaping the world for students to explore to the team and look forward to her curating global experiences at IES Abroad.
