Amsterdam offered spectacular views and amazing food. Arriving at AMS in the night, we were able to easily take the train from the airport to the Centraal location for about 5 euros. The train took about 20 minutes, and after, we walked about 10 minutes to our place of residence. I would highly recommend staying in the Centraal area as it is close to everything and very well connected to other parts of Amsterdam. On our first full day in Amsterdam, we booked a canal boat tour. This is a must do when in Amsterdam. Seeing the canals on a boat was amazing, and I got to learn a lot about the history. well. Such as why certain buildings in Amsterdam have certain types of architecture as well as the history of different canals and how everyone came to Amsterdam to live in boat houses when it was tax-free! We passed the Love Canal as well as the famous spot where you can see 7 canals all together through the view of one. I would recommend having this pre-booked before your trip, especially if you are in a big group.

Next, we went to the famous bench from the movie The Fault in Our Stars. This was really cute and reminded me of things that we had seen and related to in the movie. We then headed to the Albert Cup food market. It was about a 25-30 minute walk, and at the market, we were greeted with diverse stands selling all kinds of things. Definitely try some of the food such as the dutch pancakes and crepes and the meatballs. If you are into thrifting, Amsterdam is the place for you. My friends and I walked into so many amazing vintage thrift stores and bought amazing items!

In terms of transportation, we only used the train to get to and from the airport. The rest of the time, we walked everywhere. Amsterdam is a very walkable city and is also very bike-friendly. We did not get a chance to do this, but try to rent a bike as they are so popular and go around the city!
