While traveling abroad, I ranked most of the restaurants and food places I went to. In this post, I will include some of my favorite restaurants as well as places you should avoid.
- Barcelona:
- Eldiset - cute wine bar in Jaume I region. This small restaurant is a really good date location and has small bites to enjoy with your drink of choice. I would highly recommend trying their dessert!
- ARTiSA Barcelona - If you are living in Aparto Pallars, this is a small coffee shop only a couple of metro stops away and has great coffee and pastries/baked goods. A great place to relax and read a book.
- Abyss - A pretty big coffee shop near Aparto Pallars. Really great place to go and do work on a Sunday with plenty of co-working spaces.
- Can Plaça - Super touristy spot near the IES center. The food was pretty mediocre, I would instead go somewhere else.
- Via Margutta and Spaccanapoli - Really great Italian restaurants in Barcelona. Absolutely loved the pasta at both locations.
- La Pachuca - Mexican restaurant in the gothic quarter. Smaller restaurant, so don’t go on a busy day. It's not ideal for larger parties. The tacos were great!
- Billy Brunch & Park - such sweet staff and a pretty big restaurant. Perfect place to get a casual brunch or get coffee and do work.
- La Alcoba Barcino - a small restaurant in the Gothic quarter. It is a prime location and is a great date spot. Food portions are quite small but very delicious.
- Madrid:
- Mafrens - really wonderful breakfast/brunch restaurant. I got avocado toast along with Nutella pancakes and fruit. Portions are a bit small, but the food tastes excellent and is made fresh. It is located in a calmer neighborhood and is a short walk to the central plaza.
- En Copa de Balón - dinner/lunch restaurant in the Plaza Mayor. Prime location as it is right in the plaza. However, it is usually quite busy, so you can find yourself waiting longer to get served. Would recommend going here for a small snack or drink to enjoy the views.
- El Económico - breakfast restaurant and bar. Did not have a good experience, don’t recommend it.
- Zen Noodle Bar - a cute restaurant within walking distance from the Prado museum. Really delicious ramen, and the prices were affordable as well.
- Rome:
- Il Bocconcino - restaurant near the Coliseum. Did not quite enjoy my lunch here. The pasta was overcooked. Most of the places near the Coliseum are a bit overpriced and overrated.
- Al42 by Pasta Chef Rione Monti - I highly recommend this restaurant!!! The staff was incredibly nice, and the food tasted divine. It is all very fresh and cooked so well. One of the best pasta restaurants I have been to.
- Tonnarello San Pietro - restaurant near the Vatican Museum. Great vibes, and the food was good, too. This place can get really busy and crowded, so you may not be able to stay the whole time. Would rather try another restaurant in the area.
- Barzilai - really overpriced restaurant with mediocre food. Do not recommend it.
- Florence:
- Trattoria F.lli Boschetti - restaurant near the Santa Maria Novella region. Great pasta, but portions are smaller. Beware that they charge a service fee.
- Café Pasticceria Gamberini - fancy cafe near the embassy area in Florence. Really great food and service. Not casual.
- Marrakech
- Restaurant Le Grand Bazar - cannot recommend this place enough! It is located right in the middle of the square in Marrakech and is a great escape from the busy streets and shops. Inside the restaurant was a posh dining area, and the food was exceptional. I got the Tajine kefta and could honestly eat it forever.
- Prague:
- ADELE Restaurant and Bar - located in old town in Prague. Beautiful restaurant with decent food. More than the food, I enjoyed sitting outside and admiring the city views. Their desserts are pretty good, so I would give that a try.
- PLATZ Restaurace, Kavárna - amazing breakfast place near the old town square. Got the Shakshuka, which was really tasty. There are a lot of options for eggs; you can get practically whatever you want. Prices are great, it is quite affordable.
