I've been in Paris for a little more than a week and it's... indescribable. The magic of the city isn’t just an American fantasy but a real, almost tangible thing. This is most likely due to the fact that I have only seen Paris as a tourist so far, taking pictures of every mildly interesting building I see and not yet understanding the lay of the land. But there are perks to being a tourist: not caring how silly you look taking selfies with national monuments and having some beautiful pictures that will forever remind you of your study abroad. So don't be scared to be a tourist at first. Relish it. Learn how to become a native later.
Here are just some of the moments I captured while wandering the streets of Paris this past week, taking full advantage of my tourist status. (To see bigger version of the pictures click through the photo gallery at the bottom of the page!)
The Paris skyline from the view from my bedroom window.
Even my host famiy's living room is aesthetically pleasing!
I can't wait to try all the desserts at the local pastry shop (pâtisserie).
The front of the Louvre museum.
A sculpture garden inside the Louvre. So beautiful and peaceful.
The apartments of Napoleon the III in the Louvre.
Viewing one of the many, many, MANY paintings housed in the Louvre.
My roomate and I in front of the Louvre's famous glass pyramids.
The Eiffel Tower is so lovely all lit up. And it sparkles every hour on the hour!
I definitely recommend taking a walk in Paris at night. The cafés all lit up are certainly a site to see!
The French are obviously used to English tourists, even the puns are in English!
Here, savory crêpes are known as galettes and this one is a galette complète: a crêpe with egg, ham, and cheese.
One of my favorite monuments in the city, Sacré-Coeur Basilica. It was built on a big hill so there's a great view of all of Paris.
The Hunchback of Notre Dame is one of my favorite Disney movies, so I had to visit Notre Dame, home of Quasimodo!
The interior of Notre Dame is just as beautiful as the outside!

I was born in Melbourne, Australia and moved to the United States eight months later, and I've loved to travel every since. My favorite way to document my travels is through something called a bullet journal, which is like a combination of an agenda, a journal, and a scrapbook.
