PO/HS 347 - The Franco Regime and the Transition to Democracy

This course analyzes the situation of Spain throughout Franco’s dictatorship and in the early period of the pacific transition to democracy. This course focuses on the factors that led to the Spanish Civil War, the changes in the life of Spaniards at that time as well as in rules and international relations. The transition peacefully broke with the regime of dictatorship. We will study how that process was forged, which rules and people made it possible, and how it influenced today’s Spanish society.
