LT 250 - Introduction to French Literature

This course is an introduction to French Literature, from the 16th century to the 20th century. It will study literature as a reflection of French society throughout the centuries. All major literary genres (fables, tales, short stories, autobiography, letters, theater, poetry, novels...) will be explored and fundamental texts that best represent key developments in history and literary writing will be examined. In addition, it will cultivate the tools for literary analysis through oral expression and the written word. This course provides students with a deep understanding of the interaction between literature and societal changes in France and invites them to think about the impact of literary texts.
