HS 358 - History of Madrid

This program deals with the history of the city of Madrid, from its Muslim origins in the second half of the IX century, to the present day. Several aspects of town planning, political, social and cultural affairs are considered during the course. The aim is to explore the history of Madrid, taking into account its double condition of city and capital of the country. Therefore, the course emphasises these two aspects of the city: City (area where the everyday life of its inhabitants transpires) and Court (area where the capital has been located since 1561). Not forgetting the interrelation between the two.
