 | Meet Dr. Barbara Finke, our new Berlin Center Director! Dr. Finke earned both her Masters and Ph.D. in Political Science at the University of Mannheim. She also spent a year at the Johns Hopkins University, where she studied in the Political Science Master’s program with a fellowship from the German Academic Exchange Service, DAAD. In 2007, Dr. Finke joined the Hertie School of Governance in Berlin, a distinguished international graduate school that focuses on public policy and international affairs. She has been the Head of Graduate Programs there since 2013. Dr. Finke will begin her term as the Berlin Center Director on May 1, 2017. We are pleased to announce her appointment! |
Dr. Finke succeeds Dr. Barbara Gügold, who founded the IES Abroad Berlin Center and the Berlin Language & Area Studies Program, and has provided inspiring leadership in Berlin for more than 25 years. Dr. Gügold will assist with the transition to help Dr. Finke in her new role. Danke, Dr. Gügold! We will celebrate Dr. Gügold’s years of service in Berlin on June 16th. |  |
