With this weekend’s landmark climate change agreement on the top of our minds, we’re excited to share that the IES Abroad Paris Business & International Affairs Program has become an active participant in global international issues, raising awareness on the issue of climate change.

In fact, a new seminar was created for our Paris BIA students: Green Growth and Development Studies. This seminar seeks to promote a better understanding of the most important challenge of the century: climate change.

For this seminar, students have been actively following the 21st Conference of Parties (COP21) discussions and were invited to participate in a visit to the Clichy-Batignolles Eco District on December 2nd. This is one of the most advanced urban green developments in Europe, and is a landmark of French sustainability expertise in the world today.

The visit, led by Professor Alvaro Artigas, took IES Abroad students to the main buildings of this up-and-coming district in order to explore energy efficiency and building construction techniques, sustainable waste management, and a new, friendlier layout of the city.

The group then went to the Project House, where there was an introduction to the history of this development and a video presentation of the different utilities.
