We are excited to announce our new China & Southeast Asian Studies Program based in Kunming, China—your gateway to exploring China and Southeast Asia.
Kunming is a global city with a diverse population of more than 20 ethnic groups, and is an ideal place to learn about the important economic, political, environmental, and developmental opportunities and challenges facing China and its Southeast Asian neighbors.
Our new semester-long program will include all of the elements that make our current Kunming summer programs rewarding; exciting coursework taught by subject experts, integrated multi-national academic field study, homestays, and service learning or field placement in local organizations.
These opportunities make the China & Southeast Asian Studies Program a unique study abroad experience in one of the world’s fastest growing countries. Opportunities to discuss local issues with governmental officials, leaders of NGOs and businesses, and students abound. Your academic-based travels within Yunnan Province and to locations such as Vietnam, Laos, and Thailand will provide you contrast and context as you continue your studies on the road with other IES Abroad students and faculty.
