We’re excited to share a brief recap of our financial aid distributions for the 2014-15 academic year, as well as some important updates to our financial aid program for the 2016-17 academic year.

During the 2014-15 academic year, we made IES Abroad history in awarding more than $2.8 million in financial aid! In addition, we set a record for number of students awarded. 1,538 students received financial aid across 157 U.S. colleges and universities.

As a part of our ongoing efforts to make study abroad more accessible and affordable for students, we have updated our financial aid program for the 2016-17 academic year.

Starting in Fall 2016, our financial aid program will now offer:

  • An increase in the automatic Public University Grants, from $1,500 to $2,000
  • More semester need-based aid, up to $5,000
  • More summer need-based aid, up to $1,000, including full-time summer internships
  • More donor-funded scholarships, ranging up to $10,000
  • An easier online application process

Learn about the 2016-17 academic year financial aid program updates.

We’re committed to removing the barriers that stand in the way of qualified students studying abroad, and we know financial limitations are a big one.

While we have awarded $23 million in financial aid over the past 10 years, and $50 million since our founding, we continue to look for new ways to increase accessibility, while enhancing the study abroad field’s highest standards of academic excellence and student health and safety. We project awarding over $3 million dollars for the 2016-17 academic year.
