As part of our Ambassador Program, we award the IES Abroad Ambassador of the Month title to two Ambassadors who show exceptional dedication to international education outreach by taking part in a variety of outreach activities on campus and online.
Our March Ambassadors of the Month are Deborah Korzun, University of Rochester (Sydney - University of New South Wales, Spring 2013) and Delise Hampton, Howard University (Cape Town - University of Cape Town, Spring 2014).
Deborah Korzun shares her study abroad experience with students at the University of Rochester by speaking with students at study abroad fairs and volunteering at predeparture orientations. She also discusses her study abroad experience with her swim team and actively encourages other athletes to study abroad. Deborah has done outreach through phone, email, and social media.
Deborah says, “My life was changed for the better by studying abroad, and it brings me joy to help others start their own journey toward [being] better people and learned travelers.”
Actively involved with international education outreach at Howard University’s campus, Delise Hampton has helped increase study abroad awareness in a number of ways, including speaking at information sessions and on panels and assisting IES Abroad Representatives with their visits to Howard University. Delise also reaches out to students who are interested in studying in Cape Town, and discusses her experience on study abroad-related websites. Because of her great efforts, Delise was nominated to attend Diversity Abroad’s Global Student Leadership Summit this month.
On being an Ambassador, Delise says, “Through sharing my journey to studying abroad, I am able to turn a distant dream into a reality for my peers who would not have studied abroad otherwise. I enjoy being able to pay it forward through being an IES Abroad Ambassador.”
Congratulations, Deborah and Delise!
