Our Study in Rabat Program may finish up this Saturday, but we're still thinking about all that's happened this semester in Morocco! Take a peek inside six things we're up to at IES Abroad Rabat:
1. Blogs & Videos from Our Students
Our fall blogger Jada Bullen (Georgetown University) has had some incredible posts! You Know You #studyabroadinMorocco When..., takes you right into the IES Abroad Rabat student experience.
We're also crazy about University of Richmond student Thamine Nayeem's video blog series.
2. Center Upgrades
From new classroom furniture to roof-top terrace enhancements, we've done a lot to make our Rabat Center space even more welcoming.
After all, it is the center of our students study abroad experience...pun intended.
3. Our Moroccan Wedding
Each semester, we organize a mock Moroccan wedding as one of our many cultural activities. From a henna party to the ceremony, this activity is filled with tradition—the dress, food, dances, and more.
One of the coolest parts? Since Moroccan weddings are all about community, our host families prepare and provide traditional food, apparel, and music—not to mention that the DJ is a host brother, and the whole wedding takes place at a homestay!
4. U.S. Ambassador Visit
To top off a semester studying the economic impacts of globalization, and the contemporary history of Morocco and North Africa, our students had the unique opportunity of meeting with U.S. Ambassador Dwight L. Bush!
5. New Summer Program
Our Francophone Studies & Arabic Language Program starts Summer 2016!
6. We're Welcoming 3 New Faculty Members
We're proud to provide superior academic programming abroad, and to have these new professors joining our faculty:
- Dr. Jilali Saib - Contemporary History of Morocco and North Africa
- Stephanie Willman - Internship/Social Action Seminar
- Jwad Elbakili - Arabic Language
