On November 25th, students on our IES Abroad Paris – Business & International Affairs Program visited the global headquarters of the Organization for Economic Cooperation & Development (OECD) in Paris to get an inside look at the OECD and its role in the global economy. Part of their International Political Economy and New Security Issues in a Globalized World courses, the students’ half-day excursion included a presentation on the basic framework of the organization and its role in the global economy. Then, David Lewis, Executive Secretary of the Financial Action Task Force, discussed money laundering and its effect on the arms trade and unstable governments—a topic that was especially relevant for the visiting IES Abroad students.
