Celebrations began with a walking tour streamed on Facebook Live. Led by current IES Abroad Salamanca student, Alex Claycomb (Grinnell College), the tour takes you through Salamanca’s historic district. Starting at the IES Abroad Salamanca Center, Alex walks the city’s famous streets, pointing out various monuments along the way, including Universidad Pontificia de Salamanca (Pontifical University of Salamanca), Convento de San Esteban, and Casa de las Conchas (House of Shells). Check out Alex’s walking tour.
The 25th anniversary celebration event then kicked off with opening remarks from IES Abroad Salamanca Center Director, Barbara Liberatore. She spoke on her experiences as Center Director for the past eight years, and welcomed IES Abroad students, faculty, and Center staff to the celebratory event. Listen to Barbara’s speech.
Also present at the event was IES Abroad Salamanca Program Dean, Lee L’Hote, who shared a few words with the audience about the Center. The event then concluded with a musical performance from Alex.
Congratulations to IES Abroad Salamanca on 25 years, and here’s to 25 more!
