We have recently partnered with Middlebury Interactive Languages on their new French Language Academy in Québec City. Ideal for U.S. high school students wanting to immerse themselves in a true French language culture, the Middlebury-Monterey Language Academy for French language will offer an intensive four-week summer language program that takes in the unique culture and history of French-speaking Québec.
The Academy is located at the Université Laval, the first school in North America to offer higher education in French and the oldest educational institution in Canada. Students at the French Academy are required to speak French at all times during the program.
In addition to this inaugural launch of a Middlebury-Monterey Language Academy in a French-speaking country, IES Abroad Customized Programs is also partnering with Middlebury Interactive Languages on its Spanish language academy in Granada, Spain. Our role in these partnerships is to help hire and train staff, plan course-related excursions, and manage the process and logistics of sending high school students to live abroad for four weeks.
Dr. Mary M. Dwyer, President and CEO of IES Abroad, adds: “When IES Abroad developed the IES Abroad MAP for Language Learning, we set out to codify and measure the important standards we use to help our students with second language acquisition. With Middlebury Interactive employing its well-respected pedagogy, we feel this is a perfect academic fit for furthering young students’ language and intercultural competencies.”
