Did you study abroad? Can you imagine your life without that experience? Do you know someone who studied abroad and came back ready to take on the world?

Students lives are truly changed forever by study abroad, and we want to ensure as many students as possible have the opportunity to see the world through a different lens, experience new cultures, and push their boundaries. Students like Simone, Sherry, and David, were transformed by their study abroad experience, however it wouldn’t have been possible without the amazing contributions of our donors. Donations, no matter how big or small, go towards creating the next global leaders of tomorrow. And isn’t the gift of giving the sweetest?

After all, generosity is one holiday leftover that never goes bad. Check out some of our students' stories below!

"Some of my family still cannot believe the places I've been to."

Going abroad is something that is not at all common in my community. Some of my family still cannot believe the places I’ve been to. I am so happy that the donors to the IES Abroad Scholarships played such an important role in my experience. I will forever be thankful to you all and the IES Abroad family. I hope that one day I can become a donor for the program and afford students the same opportunities that I was blessed with!

"As child of immigrants, I would never have had the chance to see the world without donors like you."

The scholarship from IES Abroad was a window of opportunity for me. It allowed me to explore the world. The scholarship means everything to me and my family. The world is so much bigger than what we perceive it to be. It is so important in today’s world that people learn to understand and experience other cultures. I, a child of immigrants, would never have had the chance to see the world without donors, like you. Thank you.

"I will succeed in the future and take my parents to all the places I've seen!"

Overall, I can say that my time in London has made me more knowledgeable and more confident that I will succeed in the future and take my parents to the places that I’ve seen so far. Thank you so much again! It is scholarships like these and your kindness that make these experiences available to first generation students like me. Thank you for all your kind and thoughtful contributions. I know that when I reach my goals and aspirations in my career, I will definitely give back because these experiences are precious especially for students who cannot afford to see the world when they want to.

-Sherry Mei (IES Abroad London, Spring 2019 | Knox College)

On December 3rd, help us increase access to study abroad with your gift to support scholarships for students with financial need. Our goal is to inspire 200 gifts in 24 hours—but we need your help! You can be a part of this global day of giving by making a gift in support of IES Abroad Scholarships or setting up a fundraising page to share with friends and family—100% for students with financial need to study abroad next year.
