The deadline for the Rio de Janeiro Summer – Sports & Society program has been changed to Friday, March 14th (previously April 1st). Because of the excitement about this summer’s 2014 FIFA World Cup in Rio, we anticipate delays in Brazilian visa processing. IES Abroad will consider late applicants on a case-by-case basis and admitted students will receive personal assistance in completing the visa application.
As of January 2014, the Brazilian consulates in Houston, New York, and San Francisco are the only consulates that require an FBI background check. Obtaining an FBI background check typically takes 5-10 weeks. If expediting is necessary, IES Abroad recommends the use of FBI-Approved Channelers, which expedite the FBI background check for a fee. Consulate turnaround times vary, with most taking 2-4 weeks.
In this six-week summer program, students can choose from two sports related courses, an internship, and a course on Brazilian music and society, all taught in English, in addition to Portuguese language. Apply now for this exciting opportunity!
