In the spirit of Valentine’s Day, we’ve been thinking about all the things we love in life—especially our love for study abroad.
This week, two of our bloggers share what they’re loving about their study abroad experience so far:
Love Life
Love isn’t easy. In fact, it is often hard work. But the joy love brings makes it all worth it. Alissa Welker (Quito, Spring 2015) writes, “This Valentine’s week, as I reflect on what I have loved most about my study abroad experience…it is my love for new adventures. Yes, there are times when the adventure is daunting and unknown, but it is well worth the ride.” You can read all of Alissa’s Blog Post of the Week here.
The Power of Trust
Ian Johnson (Barcelona, Spring 2015) says it’s the people he’s met that he loves about study abroad. He explains, “There is a kindness to the locals here in Barcelona that amazes me every day. They are generous, honest, and trusting. I could continue on forever writing down adjectives that describe just how amiable Barcelonans are…” He goes on to recount a recent trip to a supermercat where the owner showed an extraordinary act of trust and kindness to a stranger. Happy Valentine’s Day from your friends at IES Abroad!
