We just turned 65 and we’re proud of it!
To celebrate this momentous occasion, we’re launching our 65 Years | 65 Faces campaign to showcase 65 of our extraordinary alumni from around the world.
We’re kicking it off with Janet Napolitano.
Yes, that Janet Napolitano—the Former Secretary of Homeland Security.
Now President of the University of California system, Janet studied on the IES Abroad London program in Spring 1978.
“I don’t think I would be who I am without that experience,” says Janet. “It was pretty essential to my growing up.”
After studying abroad, her career path progressed from U.S. Attorney for the District of Arizona, to the Governor of Arizona, to U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security until 2013.
Read our full interview with Janet, and stay tuned for upcoming conversations with the rest of our impressive alumni, including writer John Irving, former Levi Strauss CEO Tom Tusher, and Amelia Roosevelt—violinist and great-granddaughter to Franklin D. Roosevelt.
