We are proud to announce that three of our Beijing Summer – Language Intensive students passed the Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (HSK), or Chinese Proficiency Test. The HSK is the Chinese government’s language proficiency exam for foreigners and, as such, it’s widely recognized throughout the Mandarin-speaking world.

This intense written and oral exam certifies at six levels, and HSK certification is key for anyone pursuing a career in international diplomacy, international business, and other professions. Level 4 certification (or higher) is a must for students wishing to complete a master’s degree or Ph.D. at a Chinese university.

Ashanti McCorrmick (University of  Pittsburgh) and Michael Campbell (University of Georgia) both passed at HSK level 4, and Louis Jablowski (Penn State) passed at level 5!

Congratulations, Ashanti, Louis, and Michael!

Our programs in Beijing are two of the only study abroad programs to offer HSK preparation. Check out our Faculty Spotlight on Deng Jiao, an accomplished Mandarin instructor who has helped many of our students pass the HSK test.
