Upcoming Website Maintenance

Early this Monday morning U.S. Central Time the IES Abroad website will undergo scheduled maintenance. During this time some or all features of the site - like login and account creation - will be unavailable, but we expect this disruption to be brief. Thank you for your patience.

A Month in the Life

Wow! What a busy month it has been.  I honestly cannot believe that I have been here so long already.  It feels like just yesterday I was eating my last slice of pizza in Jersey!!

I absolutely adore it here in Christchurch.  There are so many things to do, with mountains on one side and the beach on the other.  It’s definitely overwhelming at first, having all these options around you, but making a list helps to guarantee you’ll hit everything you want to.  The University of Canterbury is great as well, even though its so weird to be in class (and going on spring break this upcoming weekend) when my friends from Rochester don’t even start for another week.  Classes here are set up slightly different than those in the US, and rely on a lot more student independence.  There are only a few classes with weekly assignments, and as you get into the upper levels, your grade will consist of major essays and exams.

This vlog outlines places I have explored in the Canterbury region including Sumner Beach, Taylor’s Mistake, New Brighton, and Kaikoura!!  I didn’t get a chance to film in Kaikoura for too long, so please look out for pictures being posted in the near future.

PS: Sorry for the low quality of the video.  Currently trying to troubleshoot what could be causing the export issues!
