¡Buenas amigos! These past few months I’ve learned that here in Granada, it’s impossible to be bored. There are always new art installations, free concerts at tapas bars, street festivals, and weekend markets to fill your time. The constant bustle is part of the reason I’ve come to love Granada so much. Aside from all of the city-related events, IES Abroad organizes activities and keeps us updated on all of the best events going on! I’ve taken a cooking class where we learned how to cook salmorejo and tortilla de patatas, two very delicious dishes that are typical to Spain. I also went to an olive oil tasting where we learned how to enjoy the strong taste of olive oil, which is so fundamental to the cooking culture here in Spain. The orientadoras, our program’s orientation leaders, are so lovely and invite us all to hang out at cool local spots every weekend. I’ve also signed up for the IES Abroad Open Mic nights! It’s been so fun to see everyone else performing and getting to sing a few songs myself. Hope you enjoy this clip of me singing a song I performed at the last open mic: a true classic, “Hips Don’t Lie” by the incredible Shakira herself.
Keep following along with my blog if you want to see more singing and more silliness. ¡Hasta luego!
