Positano

Hello again! (but mostly hello to my parents because I think they’re some of the only ones that read this!) Barcelona has been so busy between midterm exams, papers, and presentations, but I have also been traveling and taking a lot of pictures that I’ve been excited to share. This set of pictures is from my trip to the Amalfi Coast, where we explored Sorrento, Capri, Anacapri, Positano, and Pompeii. The first day my friends and I took a ferry filled with other college students abroad to Capri, we had an amazing lunch of pasta and seafood, shopped around the sandals and clothing boutiques, tasted some limoncello, and took the chair lift up to a beautiful lookout spot. The next day we set out for a boat tour around the islands, jumped into the chilly Mediterranean Sea, and landed in Positano, where we indulged in a relaxing day on the black pebble beach! We encountered a minor tragedy when we were swarmed by seagulls and forced to surrender our sandwich lunches, but the sunny weather and picturesque views made up for it. That night we headed back to Sorrento, and I had possibly the best spaghetti of my life, which will definitely be featured in a final, highly anticipated food post. At sunset, we walked about 20 minutes from our hostel to find a small swimming hole with crystal clear water. Overall, the coast of Italy has always been one of my favorite travel destinations and this trip only further solidified my love for this place; from scenic coastal views of the brightly colored houses, to sunset hikes and shopping, I think it’s a place for everyone!

Sallie Rochelle

Hi! My name is Sallie Rochelle, I was born and raised in San Antonio, TX and I am a junior at Sewanee. I am majoring in Psychology and Spanish but have always had a passion for the arts, whether that be dance, music, writing, painting, photography, fashion- I love it all! For the most part, I enjoy drawing or painting photographs that I have taken myself. I focus my art on mostly portraits but love to explore many other subjects, like landscapes, architecture, and abstract. Also, I love to travel and believe that photography and art is a perfect way to capture a moment or image that you want to remember forever.
