I’m Going on an Adventure!

I am literally writing this as I get on the airplane to my first connection in Amsterdam. The things I am feeling are pretty much indescribable. It is a myriad of emotions that somehow seem to cancel each other out and leaves me feeling nothing at least until it really hits me that I am actually in Morocco.

I started packing about a week in advance for this trip. I even made an Excel sheet with everything that I needed to bring along. But since Friday was my little sister’s quinceañera, everything was all over the place. The house was chaos with relatives flying in from Mexico and trying to have everything prepared for the event later that night. Anyways, when all of the stress of that was all gone, the overwhelming feeling that I was going to board an airplane and travel halfway across the world.

Knowing that this trip is probably the most adventurous thing I have ever done in m life, I hope that I can make the most of it. I hope to be able, even in the short time I have, to immerse myself in the culture of this country, learn some of its language and be able to learn about it. I look forward to having the experience of a lifetime.

Although I like to learn about a lot of different things from this experience, I cant help but feel scared. I’m scared I will encounter things I will not like. I am scared that I will not be able to adjust to living in a new place. I am scared of the heat. I was talking to my mother before leaving and she basically told me I was afraid of the unknown. And it’s true. I am not afraid of anything too specific. I am afraid of things in general. But that’s a normal part of life and therefore a normal part of this trip.

Anyways, I am being told to stow away my laptop. The next time I will post here will (hopefully) be from Rabat.
